Jamplay Review

JamPlay is the second largest online guitar lesson site online and offers over 4,392 video lessons in HD quality. They have training for beginners, intermediate, and advanced guitarists. So basically if you play or want to play guitar, they have something for you.

I think Jamplay’s done a really good job taking the time to figure out how people learn. Their lessons are not only helpful, but they actually make you learn faster. There are so many shortcuts and techniques that the 73 teachers show you that will speed up your playing 100x from trying to learn from some free guitar lesson website.

They also have courses for every style of playing. Whether you want to shred, play country, or jam some bluesy licks, they have everything. Plus, their system works so much better than going down to a local music store to take lessons or trying to find free lessons online. Trust me. Their system works. You will start learning so much faster than you did before.

Don’t believe me? Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why Jamplay will improve your playing.

Course Overview

The overall course is designed around your skill level. There are over 70 professional guitarists who teach three different phases of training.

Phase 1 is for beginners who are just trying to figure out how to hold a pick and play some basics chords and leads.

Phase 2 builds on everything you’ve already learned and helps you develop your skills in the genres you want to play in. This is the intermediate part of the course. There are videos on just about every different guitar style from country to jazz.

Phase 3 is all about learning full-length songs. They help you with everything from the intro and chorus to the solo and bridge. Every song comes with a tab and a video for you to follow along with. This is by far the most popular part of the course because you actually get to rock out.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to take any of these phases in order. You can skip straight to the song lessons or take your time learning the basics in the beginner videos. It’s up to you. The main thing is Jamplay offers something for everyone in their membership.

Pros

There are so many great things about this membership that it’s hard to narrow it down to only a few pros, but here is what I think are the best features.

Teachers

There are over 70 professional teachers who write and record material regularly for the website. I’m not talking about some local music store teacher. I’m talking about actual professions like Trace Bundy, Dave Wiener, and Glen Drover. These are huge names in the guitar community that you can learn from. All of these instructors fit into the systematic 3 phase learning process to help you improve faster. There is even a feature to track your progress. Here's an awesome example.

Focus on YOUR Interests

One of the awesome things about this membership is that it allows you to focus on what you want to learn. Although there is a structure, you can bounce around and learn what you want to whenever you want to.

The two main areas for this are the learn a style and learn a skill categories. The learn a style category shows you all the lessons for styles like blues, fingerstyle, metal, bluegrass, rock, you get the point. They have everything. You can work on specific styles anytime you want.

The pick a skill category is even more helpful. This is where you can focus on your technical chops and increase your speed, soloing, improvising, and even theory.

Live Lessons

I think one of the most impressive parts of being a Jamplay member is being able to attend live lessons. You can sign up for live lessons with instructors every day for free! Yup, that’s right. There are actually teachers who are on the site everyday and you can ask them questions or just watch one of their live sessions.

Bonus Features

There are so many extras for guitarists packed into this membership package. Here are just a few.

Community Forum – They have a forum where you can meet and talk with other students who are your skill level and beyond. You can ask for help, practice, and even write riffs together. Plus, it’s great for moral support if you are stuck with something. :)

Chord Charts – They have an insanely helpful chord chart library and custom chord builder that you can use to make any chords for your own songs. Check this out. The chord library has over 950,000 chords in it! Crazy, huh? Each chart has a photo of a teacher playing the chord, a tablature sheet, and a chord diagram. Jamplay even has a chord chart for altered tunings!

Scale Library – Do you get hung up on your modes and scales? Not anymore. The scale library is just as comprehensive as the chord library. You can see diagrams of any mode in any key at any position.

Jam Tracks Library – There are over 500 guitar backing tracks for you to jam and improvise to. This means you can work on your soloing without having to play with a live band every time.

Licks Library – If you are like me, you like learning short licks that you can impress other people with. I know. It’s kind of a guitarist’s sickness, but the lick library has tons of stuff you can use to improve your playing or just show off to your friends with.

Cons

The only con that I can come up with is the price, but I don’t even think this is a valid criticism. Think about how much it would cost you to take guitar lessons at a local music shop. It would be at least $25 for a half hour lesson each week. That’s $100 a month for a total of 2 hours of lessons. Not to mention you have to drive or get a ride to the music store every week and only schedule them when a teacher has an opening.

To me, that’s crazy. Jamplay has hundreds of hours of lessons that you can access any time you want. Plus, there are a few different Jamplay coupon codes that will save you up to 20% off your first month!

On top of all that, they have a 100% money back guarantee. If you don’t like the lessons or don’t like how the instructors look, you can ask for a refund. That’s it. That’s all you have to do. How can you go wrong with something like that? If it doesn’t work out, you get your money back.

My Recommendation

Check Jam Play out. I think you are really going to like it and start seeing your playing improve right away.
